Day 4 - Fri 24th July
We check out of our hotel and head to Hampshire and our hotel in Stockbridge, a beautiful town in the heart of the Test Valley with the pure waters of the River Test running along the side of the High Street. After check in, we’re off to Salisbury Cathedral for a tour to learn of its long history from the cathedral guides and the opportunity to view the world famous Magna Carta, the document laying down the foundations of civil liberties that has inspired people worldwide for 800 years,. We’ll then have lunch in the Cathedral’s magnificent medieval cloisters, where you can see the tower that supports thetallest spire in England. Lunchtime will be extended today so that you can explore more of Salisbury at your leisure. The city has world-class shopping and restaurants contained within its ancient street plan.
On our way back to our hotel we call at Old Sarum, a site with a very long and varied history, to explore the energies, former cathedral and castle ruins. It sits on a ley line linking Stonehenge and Salisbury cathedral. Free-choice dinner not included – for those that choose to join us for dinner we will be dining at the Mayfly Pub on the bank of the River Test… it’s one of our tour participants' favourites!
Day 5 - Sat 25th July
Leave hotel for an early morning visit to Stonehenge before it opens to the general public for the day. We have arranged for our group to have private special access inside the stones of the world's most famous sacred site. Standing inside the huge megaliths which have stood in magnificent isolation on the windswept Salisbury Plain for thousands of years, you can feel the pulse of powerful earth energy currents coursing beneath your feet, imagine the ceremonies which have been performed by robed priests over aeons of time or just sit in quiet meditation. We will have a group ceremony to connect with the power of Stonehenge before you have free time to experience this World Heritage Site in your own way. This is a rare opportunity to truly experience a site revered by countless generations.
After breakfast back at the hotel we travel to the nearby ancient city of Winchester. This city, dating back to Roman times, is built around its 11th century Winchester Cathedral, which will be our first visit of the day. As our group is escorted around the underground crypts we are actually walking in the flow of powerful earth energy currents. From the neighbouring Wolvesey Castle we'll walk by the side of the river Itchen with its multitude of wild fowl and flanked by beautiful flowering gardens. The ancient streets, with their rich variety of architecture from many periods of history, will lead us to some surprising sacred sites, as we follow the past into the present.
After lunch we see the oldest copy of King Arthur’s Round Table housed in Winchester Castle. On the way we pass the medieval Buttercross, where markets were traditionally held, and the medieval Westgate into the city. We conclude our day in Winchester with a visit to The Hospital of St Cross and Almshouse of Noble Poverty. Not a hospital at all but a place of hospitality, this is England’s oldest charity founded by Henry de Blois, Bishop of Winchester in 1132. It still operates as such today being home to 25 men in what is widely regarded as the most perfect almshouse in England. It also used to serve meals to 100 local needy men daily. Walk in the footsteps of medieval knights making their way to the Crusades in Jerusalem as you receive 'the Wayfarer's Dole', some bread and beer that has been available to travellers for nearly 900 years. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 6 - Sun 26th July
Today we move our hotel base to the charming market town of Devizes. After check-in we will visit the Devizes museum, just down the street from our hotel, that houses displays on Avebury and Stonehenge. Following lunch we’ll walk in the footsteps of countless generations on a section of the Ridge Way, England’s oldest road, to see the expansive views of the Pewsey Vale, home to the vast majority of crop circles in England. If there is a crop circle close by we will visit it if we can.
Then we visit West Kennet Long Barrow a five and a half thousand year old underground chamber that was used both as a tomb and a place of initiation. We'll bejoined by author and resaercher Peter Knight who has written a book on the barrow, who will explain its significance, astronomical and landscape alignments and lead us in a drumming and toning session. Free-choice dinner not included
Day 7 - Mon 27th July
Today we will visit Uffington White Horse & Dragon Hill, ancient energetic sacred sites located on the Belinus leyline, with a very interesting story to tell. Close by is Wayland’s Smithy an atmospheric long barrow set within a copse of trees where we can have a picnic lunch if the weather is good or we can take lunch in a nearby village pub.
We will also visit the ‘Cathedral in the Vale’ – St Mary’s church in Uffington village built in 1250AD. We are joined for the day by experts Gary Biltcliffe & Caroline Hoare, authors of ‘The Spine of Albion’, who have spent fifteen years tracking and researching the Belinus ley line and its associated energy currents. Gary is a popular presenter at Megalithomania (see his 'The Belinus Line' DVD/download available here). Dinner at the hotel.
Day 8 - Tues 28th July
Today we visit the Avebury Landscape Temple, the heart centre of megalithic Britain. Here, within the largest stone circle in the world, we find the remains of two stone circles, one solar and one lunar. All the sacred sites in this area centre on Avebury including Stonehenge some twenty miles distant. Close by is the largest manmade mound in Europe, the remarkable five thousand year old Silbury Hill.
Knoll Down, a tranquil sacred grove of trees, is the ‘tail’ of the Serpent Temple and was once connected to Avebury by an avenue of stones stretching for a mile and a quarter. A similar avenue led off in another direction culminating at The Sanctuary, the ‘head’ of the Serpent Temple. Free-choice dinner not included.
Day 9 - Wed 29th July
We’ll end our journey visiting two lesser known sacred sites in the Avebury Landscape, Merlin’s Mound, a Neolithic conical pyramid in the grounds of a top private school and Morgan’s Hill, a magical copse of trees overlooking the Pewsey Vale… both with mysteries to be explored! Farewell dinner at hotel

"For us the tour was an amazing opportunity and a privilege to explore the earth energies at an incredible number of megalithic sites. We learnt so much and feel truely grateful for what was revealed to us, and to all the organisers, especially Hugh & Brien, for putting together such a memorable and stimulating tour. It was also a joy to be in the company of so many like minded people with a deep curiosity about the ancient ancestors"
- Chris & Marilyn Gulliver, New Zealand
"Your tour exceeded our expectations in nearly every way. We saw, learned and experienced more than we ever would have on any other kind of tour.
